Master Carver David Xu Riu Comes to Whistler Village, BC!
The quaint little Whistler Village, British Columbia, is about to get a whole lot more exciting this ski season, thanks to the world-renowned team of ice sculptors and carvers over at Ice Kingdom. If you are planning to visit Whistler for the season, this fabulous event is not to be missed. Spanning 1.4 acres at Whistler Golf Club, this magical world of snow and ice is bound to leave everyone who attends in awe of these fabulous sculptures and life-size creations.
Ice Kingdom includes 20 internationally recognized artists led by master carver David Xu Riu. The team has been working together for over two decades, creating their snowy wonders all over the world, including events in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Dubai and the US. Bringing the 300-year-old Chinese tradition of ice carving and sculpting to the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, David Xu Rui and his team have been working hard for over a month to create this truly magical, frosty experience. It is already looking very impressive and almost ready for opening night on February 3rd.
The snowy wonderland will contain some of the largest snow sculptures ever seen in Whistler Village as well as a stunning large-scale snow castle and snow maze. This interactive experience also features an ice slide for children guaranteed to put a smile on the face of the young and the young at heart. With over 40, 000 square feet to explore, and over fifty different attractions, there is so much to see and do!. Why not finish off with a visit to the bar, sit back with a frosty drink and enjoy the fabulous live entertainment on offer. There is a wide choice of food and beverage options available, including hot chocolate, bubble tea and snacks from a variety of handpicked food vendors. For a particularly extraordinary experience, visit the Ice Kingdom after dark, the whole place lights up at night in a full technicolor dream! A licensed bar is also available at the Whistler Golf Clubhouse.
Ice Kingdom opens on February 3rd, 2018, and runs through until April 5th, with an added FREE locals day event, set to take place on Friday 2nd February.
