5 Events You Have To Check Out This Whistler Ski Season

Whistler, BC, is the place to be for anyone who loves to hit the slopes. There is so much going on there this season that it is hard to keep up with all the must-see events. Check out our handy guide below for the top five events you have to check out for a fun-filled après-ski experience for all your ski season needs!

  1. Ice Kingdom

The Ice Kingdom over at the Whistler Golf Club takes the prized top spot with their magical frozen wonderland. Master carver David Xu Riu’s international team of world-renowned snow artists have chiseled away on 50 jaw-dropping snow sculptures, a huge palace, and a frozen maze. With a huge ice slide that the kids will love and a wide selection of snacks and beverages, this is an event that truly delights for ski season lovers. For an extra-special one-of-a-kind experience, visit Ice Kingdom when the sun has gone down for a brilliant light-up display.

2. World Ski and Snowboard Festival

This is the biggest celebration of music, art, sports and culture and it is hitting Whistler this ski season. This huge event runs from April 10th to the 15th and features lots of different events and activities. Witness two big air competitions, the Saudan Couloir Ski Race Extreme—back after a 20-year hiatus—and the WSSF Music Series. Don’t miss both Filmmaker and Pro Photographer showdowns while you’re at it, amongst many others venturing to capture this ski season highlight. Events are still being confirmed, but the WSSF guarantees to be the hottest winter party out there.

3. Whistler Fire and Ice Show

The Whistler Fire and Ice Show feature a spectacular display by the some of the best skiers and riders in Canada. Fire-spinners accompany death-defying stunts through rings of fire, a DJ, and a breathtaking firework display. This electric mix of excitement occurs every Sunday evening from 7 pm throughout the season and is free to attend. Head there early to grab the best seats in the house.

4. Winemaker Après Series

Wine and dine at 6,000 feet with the Winemaker après series. This is the perfect event for anyone who is looking to take a break from the ski world and enjoy some top quality culinary delights. Located at the Steeps Grill and Wine Bar, this full-service event offers stunning panoramic views of the breath-taking Whistler vista. With world-class wines sourced from BC wineries, delicious locally sourced food and breathtaking scenery, the Winemaker Après Series is a great way to wind down.

5. Family après at Whistler Olympic Plaza

This family-orientated event runs Mondays and Wednesdays all season and is perfect for the family to decompress after a day shredding the powder. There is a variety of outdoor and winter activities available to keep the kids entertained whilst the parents sit back with a warm drink and relax. With snowman building contests, storytelling, toboggan hills and live entertainment, there is plenty to keep them busy. Activities change regularly, so this free event is a can’t-miss for the little ones all season long.
